The former DDR is a perfect way to spend a week exploring a country that is no more. From modernist and socialist architecture, to its historical significance during the Cold War and its beautiful landscapes, it is a must for all comrades.

It is hard to find yourself a guidebook which contains all the needs for the ‘Red Tourists’ out there. For this trip, we managed to find a 1994 Blue guide of Berlin and Eastern Germany, and combined with the Revolutionary Berlin by Nathaniel Flakin, we had probably our best ‘Redcation’ yet, and would recommend both for your visit.
